How to use Google Analytics for your Blog for free

This is post is for beginners into digital marketing like myself. I spent a good 2 to 3 hours trying to figure out how I could apply Google Analytics to my free Wordpress blog. The simple answer is NO as per my limited knowledge.

Wordpress in it's free account doesn't allow plugins to be installed including Google Tag manager. It doesn't even allow tag scripts to be added to your headers and body of the pages or posts. Since you are not allowed to install the plugin in the free version of Wordpress nor are you allowed insert tag scripts basically mean you cannot track your blog statistics and metrics from Google Analytics app.

I am not judging here whether it's good or bad thing from Wordpress. There are lot of cool things which makes life pretty simple on Wordpress like the user interface, free images etc. In fact it has it's own Stats page to give you basic information like Likes, Views etc but then people who want to use heavy artillery like Google Analytics will be disappointed.

So what is the solution ? If you want to use a free blog with free Google Analytics then the solution is use Google's Blogger application. It gives you a single and easy way to map your Tracing ID from Google Analytics onto your Blogger Settings page and you are good to go. Now you can see the detailed analytics of your blogs on Google Analytics without having to buy Domain and Hosting from Wordpress or any other such service providers.
